U10 - Softball

Peninsula Baseball and Softball Association: U10 - Softball (Ages 8,9)

Background:

The U10 Softball division is open to Ages 8 & 9.   PBSA fields U10 teams to play a spring season with teams throughout the South Vancouver Island Fastpitch Softball Association. Registration numbers and skill level will dictate how many Tier 1 and Tier 2 level teams are formed.

Schedule:

One weekday practice, day to be determined.

Games are held on Saturday mornings against other local (Central Saanich and Cordova Bay) teams up to the mid-season tournament held in early-May.    Teams are then split into Tier 1 and 2 teams.

The Spring regular season schedule will conclude in the middle of June.   There is no final tournament at this level.

U10 softball is played on a diamond with 45' base paths and a pitching rubber set at 30'.

For more information on our U10 softball program please contact the Vice President of Junior Softball at  vp.jrsb.pbsa.bc.ca@gmail.com

Equipment:

Each player will receive a red long-sleeve cotton shirt, hat, and socks.

Also provided are a belt and jersey, both to be returned at the end of the season.

Players will need to acquire the following personal items: navy blue pants and a helmet. An infield mask is highly recommended for infield play and especially for pitching.

Coaching Expectations:

Each team will ideally have 1 head coach or 2 co-coaches and a parent team manager.

Coaching requirements as mandated by Softball BC can be found at the following link:

https://softball.bc.ca/coaches/9/coaching-requirements.

Parent Expectations:

All parents will also be required to assist with scorekeeping, field setup and take down and are encouraged to assist the park in other ways. More information can be found in the volunteering section of our web site.
