Rally Cap

Peninsula Baseball and Softball Association : 7U - Rally Cap (Ages 5,6)

Background:

PBSA is very proud to have been offering the Rally Cap program since 2007 for our Kindergarten and Grade One members.

The two year Rally Cap program focuses on skill development. We send three teams to the field for every session. One team takes a turn at bat using coach/pitch or in some cases a tee. One team plays defensively in the field and the third team is out in centerfields completing that session's skill development task. The three teams rotate through each station once and then run the all-important Dragon Race to end each session.

Half way through the season and again at the conclusion of the season we hold Rally Cap days. At these two sessions all players are testing on five baseball disciplines. These disciplines are catching, throwing, hitting, base-running, and game knowledge. The overall average score achieved by the player dictates what colour of Rally Cap they are awarded. Players are essentially given four tests in their two-year Rally Cap 'career' to see how their development has progressed. Players leave the program with a solid base of skill, game basics, and are ready to progress to the next level of ball.

Schedule:

We have traditionally run this program on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Firm times and dates still tbd.

Equipment:

Your child will receive a team t-shirt and PBSA baseball club hat on the first day of the season. Your player will also require a batting helmet with chin strap, baseball glove, and an athletic support. Please mark/identify all your players equipment to avoid it getting lost.

Coaching and Team Selection:

Coaching and team selection will be determined once registration has closed. The teams will be created so that there is a mixture of ages and genders. We will also endeavour to place your child with friends and coach requests, however no guarantees can be made.
